Welcome
to the Operation Truth 2007 website.
We
urge our people not to be seduced by promises of piecemeal funding,
opportunities to raise individual profiles (media/self appointed
community leaders) short term publicity, or opportunities to sing
& dance in high profile places (including ships) as this will
be seen as an endorsement of the local and national plans, which
in short, are a psychological audacity.
Whether you are an individual or an organisation, here are just
a few of the ways in which you can support our campaign and promote
Truth 2007 resources:
1.
Help promote Operation Truth 2007 and Truth 2007 events. This can
be as simple as forwarding emails, downloading, printing and photocopying
leaflets and flyers and distributing them at libraries, schools,
bookshops, retail outlets etc
2.
Get in touch with us and organise your own Operation Truth 2007
event where you live. We can provide you with a resource pack including
literature giving information and advice on how to organise events
for your own local community.
Anyone that organises events under the Operation Truth 2007 banner
is free to use the Operation
Truth logo and Truth logo
on any promotional material (flyers, websites, leaflets etc)
to show solidarity and support for this community led initiative.
Please email us at campaign@operationtruth2007.co.uk
for further information.
3.
Form or join a Coalition in your area. Contact us at campaign@operationtruth2007.co.uk
or visit the Coalition page to find out the contacts
for the coalition in your area.
4.
Download our template letter and send it to your employers and trade
union branch requesting that they support your special leave on
23rd August or thereabouts to attend an official Afrikan Remembrance
Day ceremony.’
5.
Download our template
letter and write to your local schools head teacher instructing
them to exclude your child from lessons focusing primarily on abolitionists
such as William Wilberforce until they balance their curriculum
by highlighting the primary role of African freedom fighters involved
in resisting the Maafa.
6.
Boycott any government endorsed 2007 bicentenary celebrations and
only support commemorative events that are linked to the Truth 2007
initiative.
7.
